QiMET Nigeria Country Centre

QiMET Nigeria was set up and registered in Nigeria in 2024 with the following objectives:

1 – To provide training to develop doctors who can provide excellent clinical practice as well as strategic Medical Leadership for health system improvement

2 – To provide education and training that will support improvement of quality of healthcare to populations in remote areas

3 – To support the development of healthcare services using a reciprocal model of growth between low to medium and high-income countries.

QiMET Nigeria has become the official partner to the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH) (formally known as Ogun State University Teaching Hospital) which is situated at Sagamu, Ogun State, South West Nigeria. The Board and Management of Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital are proud to announce the opening of the Sulaimon Adebola Adegunwa Trauma Centre, a ground breaking facility in Nigeria in 2025.

The teaching hospital was established in 1986 with the primary aim of quality teaching to medical students and to provide healthcare to the population of Ogun State and Nigeria as a whole.

The collaboration between QiMET Nigeria and OOUTH is to provide a state-of-the-art Hybrid International Fellowship programme in the speciality of Emergency Medicine and Trauma Management. This new programme has been launched with six of the top performing doctors at OOUTH who will champion a new and pioneering approach to Emergency Medicine and Trauma Management.

This exciting collaboration has been led by Dr Oluwabunmi Motunrayo Fatungase, Chief Medical Officer at OOUTH. Dr Fatungase is a Nigerian Consultant Anaesthesiologist who is a Fellow of the National Post graduate Medical College and the West African College of Surgeons.
