Country Centres

QiMET Country Centres have been set up to provide a central base within a country to ensure that our work fits with each countries’ health strategy. Our recruitment of post-graduate trainees is tailored to meet and support the development of each countries’ health priorities through our bepoke Fellowship programmes.

Our goal is to support Equality and Diversity in recruitment and this is best achieved through the centralisation of our Fellowship programme development working in partnership with each county. All country centres follow our standard Governance requirements and adhere to our policies and procedures.

We welcome collaboration with NHS Trusts and have information here. We are keen to establish collaboration with Medical, Nursing and Allied Health Colleges through our Country centres.

Hybrid, Doctors and Allied Health Professionals

The urgent challenges in healthcare and our established collaboration between QiMET country centres and QiMET international, provides an opportunity for a new type of “Hybrid” doctor to be developed. This concept has been developed by QiMET International (Subedi, Aylott et al., 2020;) as a way to support our QiMET country centres to develop effective clinican who are also skilled and competent medical leaders and health system improvers. It is the non-clinical skills particularly in medical leadership and health system improvement that can transform and modernise global health care services.

Our Fellowship Programmes comply with Health Education England (HEE) ‘earn, learn and return’ progamme for recruiting overseas doctors (HEE, 2017:50). Earn learn and return schemes are co-ordinated nationally through either HEE or through the Medical training Initiative (MTI) (AoMRC, 2017) and are guided by the World Health Organisation’s ‘Global Code of Practice’ in ethical recruitment of healthcare workers (WHO, 2010). The MTI provides training and education in a placement in an NHS Trust in England, with a focus on cultural exchange (Beech et al, 2019;87).

QiMET International has worked with HEE to secure a ‘country to country’ agreement between Nepal and the UK for the delivery of our Fellowship  programmes.
